The WTA Miami quarterfinals wrap up on Wednesday as American Jessica Pegula takes on Emma Raducanu and world No. 2 Iga Swiatek squares off against the story of the tournament, Alexandra Eala. As always, we here at LWOT predict all the action, but which players do you expect to reach the semifinals?
WTA Miami Quarterfinal Predictions
Iga Swiatek vs Alexandra Eala
Head-to-head: First meeting
It is challenging to know whether Eala receiving a walkover from Paula Badosa in the last round will help or hinder her. Breaking the momentum she built from that incredible win against the Australian Open champion Madison Keys may not be ideal. Swiatek is not the right person to crash down to earth against. The five-time Grand Slam champion has been improving with each round in Miami, and this might be where Eala’s terrific run ends.
Prediction: Swiatek in 2
Jessica Pegula vs Emma Raducanu
Head-to-head: Pegula 1-1 Raducanu
Emma Raducanu has played her best tennis since the 2021 US Open in Miami. Pegula, who has yet to find consistency this season, might need her best tennis against the 22-year-old Briton. However, I have a feeling that the American No. 2 will rise to the occasion. Pegula and Raducanu’s styles are quite similar, and the former Grand Slam champion often fares best against those who contrast with her, as seen in the last round against the very powerful Amanda Anisimova. Pegula to win what should be an entertaining match.
Prediction: Pegula in 3
