ATP Acapulco Final Prediction
Tomas Machac vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
Head-to-head: Machac 1-0 Davidovich Fokina
It has been a great run for Tomas Machac this week, defeating some talented and in-form players en route to his second tour-level final. The fearless attacking tennis from Machac helped him break Brandon Nakashima in the deciding set and clinch the victory. This will be the biggest match of Machac’s young career, and he will hope to showcase his best tennis. The Czechia player will achieve a new career high ranking next week, and a win would put him on the same points as world No. 20, Arthur Fils.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina played an unbelievable tiebreak in the second set to win against Denis Shapovalov in the semifinal. This would be the Spaniard’s third tour-level final and second in a row. Davidovich Fokina lost a tough final against Miomir Kecmanovic last month but has rebounded admirably. However, he still has one step left and will need to forget what happened two weeks ago and play this match freely.
Both these talented players are playing some of their best tennis and have the weapons to win this. They are terrific movers, play aggressive tennis, and have a flair for hitting stunning shots. Machac got the better of the Spaniard in a close match in Shanghai five months ago. Will Davidovich Fokina get the last laugh this time? I think so.
Prediction: Davidovich Fokina in 3
