According to the bookies, Machac is the favorite in this matchup, and we agree. Tomas thrives on fast, hard courts, where he has had his best results. On the other hand, Altmaier usually plays his best tennis on clay courts. Given his current form and skill, we expect Machac to dominate in this match.

Denis Shapovalov has won six straight matches. His last match before the ATP 500 Acapulco was in Dallas two weeks ago. As we had predicted, he won the title against Ruud in the final. Denis defeated Kecmanovic, Fritz, Machac, and Tommy Paul en route to the final. It was an impressive run from the young Canadian who is close to returning into the top 20. Before the ATP 500 Dallas, Denis had never won an ATP 500 title. It is his third appearance in Acapulco. In the opening round, Denis won against Basavareddy in straight sets. He saved a set point in the opening set. Denis has never made it past the second round.
Alex Michelsen has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago, he reached the semifinals in Delray Beach, where he lost against Kecmanovic in straight sets. This week in Acapulco, Michelsen won the opening-round match against Bu in three tight sets. Alex successfully turned the match around after losing the opening set 2-6.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Michelsen is the underdog in this matchup, and we agree. Denis is in great form, and when he is fully confident, he is one of the best players in the world. On the other hand, Michelsen was on the verge of losing the opening-round match against Bu. We expect Denis to prolong his winning streak and win easily.
That being said, Shapovalov winning in straight sets is a value bet.
