He was eventually stopped by Shapovalov, losing in straight sets. Paul struggled under pressure, losing the most important points of the match. It is his seventh appearance in Acapulco. In the opening round, Tommy demolished Diallo in straight sets. He was great under pressure, saving all five breakpoints. Last season, Tommy lost in the opening round against Draper in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Paul is the big favorite in this matchup, but we disagree. Giron is a dangerous player on fast, hard courts. He dominated the opening round match and served well throughout the match. On the other hand, Tommy may have won easily in straight sets, but he offered many breakpoints. We expect a tight match that could go either way.
That being said, Giron covering the games handicap is a value bet.

David Goffin has lost four of his last five matches. Yesterday in Acapulco, David ended his seven-match losing streak, winning against Hijikata in the opening round in straight sets. He offered only one breakpoint and was dominant on his serve throughout the match. So far this season, Goffin exited in the opening round in every tournament he has played.
Ben Shelton has won three of his last five matches. The last match he played before the ATP 500 Acapulco was in Dallas, losing in the second round against Munar in straight sets. Earlier this season at the Australian Open, Shelton reached the semifinals. He hopes for a solid result this week to reach the top 10 in the rankings. It is his third appearance in Acapulco. In the opening round, Ben won against Cobolli in two tiebreaks. He trailed 0-3 in the second set and saved consecutive set points. Last season, Ben reached the quarterfinals, losing against Ruud in three tight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Goffin is the underdog in this matchup, but we disagree. David played his best tennis in the opening round against Hijikata. He will have a decent chance if he can keep that level tomorrow against Shelton. Ben played well against Cobolli, but it was not his best level. We expect a tight match that could go either way.
That being said, Goffin covering the games handicap is a value bet.
