Miomir Kecmanovic and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina are thirsting to win their maiden ATP hard-court title in Delray. Neither a Serbian nor a Spaniard has won this ATP 250 event in its 33-year history. So, who will be crowned champion at ATP Delray Beach?
ATP Delray Beach Final Prediction
Miomir Kecmanovic vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
Head-to-head: Kecmanovic 3-0 Davidovich Fokina
Miomir Kecmanovic has won three matches to reach his second final at the Delray Beach Open (lost to Taylor Fritz in 2023). Kecmanovic benefitted from a walkover in the second round, but that didn’t affect his momentum in the quarterfinal and semifinal matches. He defeated two much-fancied favorites in Marcos Giron and Alex Michelsen. Kecmanovic has dropped one set during the week. This will be his fifth career final overall (he won one title on the clay of Kitzbuhel).
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, meanwhile, is enjoying a great start to 2025. At this time last year, he had compiled five wins. But he’s doubled that tally barely two months into the new season. He reached the second week of the Australian Open and has now advanced into his second ATP final (he lost his lone final before this in Monte Carlo 2022 to Stefanos Tsitsipas). Davidovich Fokina authored a major upset in Delray when he ended Fritz’s three-peat bid in the quarterfinal (won two tie-break sets). He is the first Spaniard to reach the final of Delray in 25 years. Like Kecmanovic, he’s lost one set in the tournament.
Both men outperformed the competition at ATP Delray Beach. Kecmanovic owns a perfect 3-0 record in this matchup, but two of the three meetings were decided in three sets. And it’s been two years since they played. Davidovich Fokina is playing with so much energy, intensity, and mental clarity. He lacked these attributes in a turbulent 2024 season, losing 22 of 42 matches. He’s also synonymous with being a rhythm disruptor and his superior movement will allow him to impose himself in this match. That first ATP title looks very much his.
Prediction: Davidovich Fokina in 3
