ATP Marseille Best Bets Including Khachanov vs Medjedovic

ATP 250 Marseille 1/8-Finals

Sonego – van Assche: 12.02.2025 15:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Lorenzo Sonego has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Rotterdam, Sonego lost in the opening round against Rune in straight sets. Lorenzo had a solid run at the Australian Open three weeks ago in Melbourne. As we predicted, he reached the quarterfinals, losing against Shelton in four tight sets. It is his first appearance in Marseille. As we predicted, Lorenzo defeated Van de Zandschulp in three sets in the opening round. Around this time last year, Sonego played in Dubai, losing in the second round against Medvedev in three sets.

Luca van Assche has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Lille, Luca lost in the opening round of the Challenger tournament against Majchrzak in straight sets. Luca failed to qualify for the main draw tournament this week in Marseille. However, with several players withdrawing, van Assche entered the tournament as a lucky loser. Luca defeated Bonzi in three tight sets in the opening main draw round after losing the first set. He trailed 1-4 in the deciding set and saved consecutive match points in the tiebreak.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Sonego is the favorite in this matchup, and we agree. Lorenzo is in solid form and is a better player overall than Luca. We expect him to dominate in this match and win easily.

That being said, Sonego winning is a value bet.

Khachanov – Medjedovic: 12.02.2025 18:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Karen Khachanov has lost three of his last five matches. The last match he played was at the Australian Open, where he lost against Michelsen in straight sets. So far this season, Khachanov has played in only two tournaments. Last year in Marseille, Khachanov reached the semifinals, losing against Dimitrov in three tight sets. In 2018, Karen won the title in Marseille.

Hamad Medjedovic has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago, Medjedovic represented Serbia in the Davis Cup. He defeated Rune and lost against Moller. Hamad won the opening round match against Collignon this week in Marseille in straight sets. He was great under pressure, saving all five breakpoints he offered. At the beginning of the season, Medjedovic played in Oeiras, winning the Challenger title on indoor hard courts. Last season, Hamad spent most of the time playing at the Challenger Tour level. His biggest result happened in Belgrade, where he finished runner-up at an ATP 250 tournament. It is his first appearance in Marseille.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Khachanov is the slight favorite in this matchup, and we agree. Khachanov has already had decent success in Marseille. He is a better and more experienced player under these conditions than Medjedovic. We expect him to dominate in this matchup and win against the inexperienced Medjedovic.

That being said, Khachanov winning is a value bet.
