Nitto ATP Finals Turin Doubles Group A
Arevalo/Pavic – Bolelli/Vavassori: 15.11.2024 18:00 CEST
H2H: 3-0
Arevalo and Pavic have lost four of their last five matches. Their last win before the ATP Finals was over two months ago in New York, where they won their quarterfinal US Open match against Skupski and Venus in straight sets. Since then, Marcelo and Mate have played three indoor hard-court tournaments, and lost in the opening round each time. Pavic and Arevalo are lacking confidence at that moment. Here in Turin, Pavic and Arevalo lost their opening match yesterday against Krawietz and Puetz in straight sets. They were once again terrible under pressure, crumbling when it was most important. After that, in their second round match, Arevalo and Pavic defeated Bopanna and Ebden in straight sets. Mate and Marcelo were trailing 1-3 in the first set, but they stepped up level, and turned the set around. Their last big result was in Cincinnati, where they won the title, winning against McDonald/Michelsen in the final. Earlier this season, Marcelo and Mate lifted their biggest title. They ended up winning the French Open, winning against Bolleli and Vavassori in the final.
Bolelli and Vavassori have lost three of their last five matches. In their last tournament before the ATP Finals, Bolelli and Vavassori lost their opening match in Paris against Glasspool and Pavlasek in straight sets. The Italians were not mentally there, and it seemed like they wanted to save their energy for the Finals. Here in Turin, Simone and Andrea defeated Bopanna and Ebden in straight sets. This time, the energy was different, and it was great from the very start. Andrea and Simone did not offer any breakpoints, and served great throughout the whole match. They were also great behind the baseline, hitting 18 winners with only 4 unforced errors. In their second group match, the Italians lost against Krawietz and Puetz in straight sets. Bolelli and Vavassori could not convert any breakpoints, and played poorly under pressure. Just a couple of weeks ago, Bolelli and Vavassori won the title in Beijing, winning against Heliovaara and Patten in the final. So far this season, the Italians have played in two Grand Slam finals, and finished as runner-ups in both of them. Unfortunately for them, Bolelli and Vavassori crumbled under pressure in the final. Firstly, they failed to win the Australian Open, losing against Bopanna and Ebden in the final. After that, at the French Open, the Italians fell short against Arevalo and Pavic in the final.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. This is a must-win match for both doubles pairs for them to qualify into the semifinals. Looking at their season so far, Pavic and Arevalo did an amazing job. We believe that their on-court chemistry and experience will prevail in this match, and that they will successfully qualify into the semifinals.
That being said, Pavic and Arevalo winning is a value bet.
