Nitto ATP Finals Turin Group B
Zverev – Alcaraz: 15.11.2024 14:00 CEST
H2H: 5-5
Alexander Zverev has won seven straight matches. Last week in Paris, Alexander won the Masters 1000 title, winning against Ugo Humbert in the final, in straight sets. Sascha was dominant throughout the whole tournament, playing his best tennis. This was also his first hard-court title of the season. Here in Turin, Sascha won his opening match against Rublev in straight sets as we predicted. After that, in his second group match, Sascha defeated Ruud in tight straight sets as we predicted. Zverev started this season very well, reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open. However, he failed there against Medvedev, after being 2-0 up. Once again, Sascha crumbled under pressure when it was most important. Zverev was consistent throughout the whole season, which granted him a top-2 status in the rankings. However, he still has not achieved his biggest goal, which is winning the Grand Slam title. His biggest chance was in the French Open, where he finished as a runner-up, losing against Alcaraz in the final. Last year in the ATP Finals, Sascha underperformed in Group B with Rublev, Medvedev and Alcaraz. He ended up being third in the group with the exact same number of points as Medvedev and Alcaraz as well. Sascha had his biggest result here in 2021, when he ended up winning the title, winning against Medvedev in the final.
Carlos Alcaraz has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Paris, Carlos reached the 1/8-Finals, where he was upset by Ugo Humbert in three tight sets. Carlos once again failed in the indoor tournament. The Spaniard is yet to win a title on the indoor hard courts. So far this season, Alcaraz has participated in only one indoor tournament, which was in Paris, last week. Here in Turin, Carlos was not healthy in his opening match against Ruud, and lost in straight sets. After that, in his second group match, Alcaraz defeated Rublev in straight sets. In 2022, Carlos got injured after the US Open, and skipped the ATP Finals tournament. However, last year, Alcaraz managed to get into the semifinals, where he was stopped by Novak Djokovic in straight sets. So far this season, Alcaraz has already won two Grand Slam titles. Earlier this season, Carlos won the French Open title, winning against Alexander Zverev in the final, after spending almost five hours on the court. Other than that, Alcaraz completely dominated throughout the whole clay court season. One of his biggest matches was at Wimbledon, where he defended his Wimbledon title, winning against Djokovic in the final, in straight sets. His last big title was in Beijing, where he won in the final against Sinner in three tight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Alcaraz is the slight favorite in this matchup, and we agree with that. This is a must-win game for the Spaniard who is feeling better health-wise. We believe that he will be a better player on the court, and successfully qualify for the semifinals.
That being said, Alcaraz winning is a value bet.
