WTA Jiujiang Final Prediction
Viktorija Golubic vs Rebecca Sramkova
Head-to-Head: Golubic 2-0 Skramkova
Viktorija Golubic was on the verge of ending what would have been her worst season in a long time. She entered her final WTA event of the season in Jiujiang with a 6-14 tour-level record and outside the top 160 for the first time since 2016. Without a quarterfinal since Nottingham 2023 or a semifinal since 2022, Golubic has defied expectations here, edging Arantxa Rus in a third-set tiebreak and upsetting top seed Marie Bouzkova, 6-1, 6-2, for her fifth top-50 win this season. The former world No. 35 now heads to her fifth career final, having won her only title in Gstaad 2016.
Unlike Golubic, Rebecca Sramkova’s strong season made her run to the Jiangxi Open final less surprising. She ousted Martina Trevisan in the quarters and Laura Siegemund, 7-6, 6-2, in the semifinals. Sramkova, now set to end the season in the top 50, has been impressive on hard courts, recently reaching finals in Monastir, winning Hua Hin, and advancing to the Beijing third round.
Golubic has had a surprising run to the finals at WTA Jiujiang and will no doubt fight with everything to crown her efforts with a title and turn the tide slightly in what has been an underwhelming season. Golubic has the advantage in the head-to-head, but Sramkova is a different player than she was the last time they met in 2021. Golubic has all the motivation to keep things close, but Sramkova will prevail in the end.
Prediction: Sramkova in 3
