ATP Paris Masters Round of 64 Predictions
Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Alejandro Tabilo
Head to Head: Tsitsipas 0-0 Tabilo
We begin with Stefanos Tsitsipas facing off against Alejandro Tabilo. The 2019 World Tour Finals champion has only a slim chance of qualifying for the Year-End Championships. Currently sitting 12th in the standings, he needs a deep run in Paris to make it to Turin. Tsitsipas battled hard to secure his opening-round win against Roberto Carballés Baena, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Meanwhile, Tabilo earned a great come from behind win in the opening round of the Paris Masters against Nuno Borges. However, he will likely need his best performance of the season to challenge Tsitsipas.
Prediction: Tsitsipas in 3
Alex Michelson vs Hubert Hurkacz
Head to Head: No Meetings
40-19 on the year, Hurkacz has been solid this season but hasn’t played much since the US Open, Michelson is at a career high ranking inside the top 50, he was a quarterfinalist in Tokyo and is 27-28 on the year, this rising 20 year old player has been performing well. Hurkacz should be favored but his form is questionable right now so an upset is in the cards.
Prediction: Michelson in 3
Arthur Fils vs Marin Cilic
Head to Head: Fils 0-0 Cilic
Lastly, we have Arthur Fils taking on Marin Cilic. If this match had been played a month ago, Cilic would have been the clear favorite, given his impressive title win in Hangzhou. However, the 2014 US Open champion has since experienced a dip in form, currently on a three-match losing streak across Tokyo, Shanghai, and Basel. Meanwhile, Fils recently won in Tokyo and reached the semifinals in Basel, where he lost to Ben Shelton. Given that Cilic hasn’t won a match since his Hangzhou title, he will enter as the underdog.
Prediction: Fils in 2
