An intense week of action at the WTA 250 in Hua Hin, Thailand finally winds to a close with a final showdown between 99th-ranked Laura Siegemund and 102-ranked Rebecca Sramkova. Will Siegemund’s experience at this level earn her a third career title or will Sramkova finally get across the line to win her first WTA title after back-to-back finals? Who do you think will lift the trophy?
WTA Hua Hin Final Prediction
Laura Seigemund vs Rebecca Sramkova
Laura Seigemund has looked more at home on court in the last two rounds after narrowly escaping in the Round of 16 against Wang Xiyu. That match, in hindsight, seems to be the confidence boost she needed at this tournament given the general outlook of her season so far.
Sramkova should be more than happy with her performance over the last couple of weeks. She surely hopes to cap it off with a title after losing in a closely contested final in Monastir to Sonay Kartel. This run will guarantee a new career high ranking of at least no. 76 on Monday whether or not she wins the title.
Seigemund comes into the final as the slight favorite. I, however, believe Sramkova has the form and motivation to make this into a real contest. All the lessons from her loss last Sunday will remain fresh in her memory. Seigemund’s experience at this level will ultimately prolong her rival’s quest for a first Tour-level title.
Prediction: Seigemund in 3
