WTA Hua Hin Day 2 Predictions Including Lesia Tsurenko vs Magda Linette

Magda Linette Australian Open

The remaining WTA Hua Hin first-round matches are completed on Day 2. Former Australian Open semifinalist Magda Linette is one of the players scheduled to take to the court. We at LWOT predict all the matches here and in a separate article, including Dayana Yastremska vs Mai Hontama. But which players do you think will win?

WTA Hua Hin Day 2 Predictions

Moyuka Uchijima vs Arianne Hartono

Head-to-head: Uchijima 1-1 Hartono

These two have played twice this year, winning one match each, although Hartono’s victory came after Uchijima retired in the second set. In their last meeting, Uchijima won the final two sets 6-1 and seemed to have fully adjusted to the Dutchwoman’s game. She is also enjoying the best season of her career, and her ranking is comfortably above Hartono’s. The Japanese player’s greater solidity makes her the favorite.
Prediction: Uchijima in 2

Anna Bondar vs Rebeka Masarova

Head-to-head: Masarova 2-0 Bondar

This promises to be a tight battle. Both women usually play their best tennis on clay, but each is also adept on hardcourts when they find their range. Masarova is slightly more comfortable on the surface when she is at her best, although the Spaniard’s recent form has been patchy. That gives Bondar an opportunity, but Masarova is still backed to come through a match that could go the distance.
Prediction: Masarova in 3

Jana Fett vs Zheng Saisai

Head-to-head: First meeting

Fett has played some of her best tennis in years this year, but most of her best results have been clay. However, this is an ideal draw for the Croatian. Zheng returned from a hiatus of over two years this season. Although the 30-year-old’s doubles results have impressed at times, she has struggled in singles since making her comeback. Fett should progress comfortably.
Prediction: Fett in 2

Lesia Tsurenko vs Magda Linette

Head-to-head: Tsurenko 2-1 Linette

Tsurenko is hoping to change her fortunes in Hua Hin. The Ukrainian has lost seven of her last eight matches, and the one triumph came when the 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu collapsed after winning the first set 6-0 against Tsurenko. It has been a strange year for Linette. Her career success before 2024 was generally based on good hardcourt results, but both of her finals this season were on clay, including claiming the title at the Prague Open. The Pole’s last two matches against Tsurenko ended in narrow defeats, but I think she can change her fortunes against her struggling opponent this time.
Prediction: Linette in 2
