Second-round matches begin at the Guadalajara Open and all the top four seeds will be in action. There are eight exciting matches to look forward to and this article features Danielle Collins and Victoria Azarenka. As always, we here at LWOT will offer our predictions for every match on the slate for day 3. But who will advance to the quarterfinals?

WTA Guadalajara Day 3 Predictions

Martina Trevisan vs Renata Zarazua

Head-to-Head: Trevisan 3-0 Zarazua

It might not appear on paper, but Trevisan pulled off a big upset as she beat last year’s finalist, Caroline Dolehide, dominantly. This was a huge win for Trevisan, especially on her weaker surface. The Italian has had a horrible season so far, but this is a golden opportunity for her to get another win against an opponent she has beaten twice this year already. Renata Zarazua got another good win against Anhelina Kalinina and looked brilliant in the third set. She has lost a close three-setter to Trevisan twice this year but has a chance for revenge in front of her home fans. This match can go either way but I am backing the Mexican.

Prediction: Zarazua in 3

Veronika Kudermetova vs Camila Osorio

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Veronika Kudermetova stopped her four-match losing streak by defeating Sachia Vickery in straight sets. It was far from her best performance, but she should have been pleased with a win in the end. This is the last chance for Kudermetova to get some match wins before her Tokyo points come off and her ranking plummets. Camila Osorio looked much better in her first-round win and will enter this match as a slight favourite despite the rankings difference. Osorio has had a good year but most of her wins have come on clay courts. Kudermetova is a more experienced hard courter, but her form is far from ideal for me to pick her.

Prediction: Osorio in 3

Victoria Azarenka vs Kamilla Rakhimova

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Victoria Azarenka has had a forgettable North American hardcourt swing so far, with health concerns being the primary reason. She will look to win some matches this week to get her confidence back. She faces a tough opening test against Kamilla Rakhimova, who is playing some high-level tennis at the moment. However, it’s hard to go against Azarenka’s experience, and if she plays anywhere close to her best, she should win this.

Prediction: Azarenka in 3

Danielle Collins vs Olivia Gadecki

Head-to-Head: Collins 1-0 Gadecki

Danielle Collins has a favourable draw here and a great opportunity to swing back into form and try to make gains on the WTA Finals race. She has to be a major favourite to reach the finals if she can display a good level. Olivia Gadecki hasn’t dropped a set so far in her three matches including qualifying. She has the advantage of getting acclimatized with the altitude conditions but I don’t think that’s going to be enough. Collins has the advantage in this one.

Prediction: Collins in 2
