ATP US Open Draper vs De Minaur Best Bet

Jack Draper in action ahead of the ATP Stuttgart Open.

ATP US Open quarterfinals

Draper – de Minaur: 04.09.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 0-3

Jack Draper has won four of his last five matches. In his opening match here in New York, Zhang retired mid-match against Draper. Jack was 2–0 sets up, and 4-0 up in the third set, when Zhang decided to retire. After that, in the second round, Draper defeated Diaz Acosta in straight sets as we predicted. Facundo had no chance against Jack, who said that he was enjoying his time in New York. His serve was just unstoppable throughout the whole match, not losing his serve once. Draper also dominated in his third round match against Van de Zandschulp, winning in straight sets. After Botic upset Alcaraz in the second round, he failed against Jack. He was nowhere near his best level. Yesterday, in the 1/8-Finals, Draper defeated Machac in easy straight sets. It was another great performance from the Brit, not losing his serve once in the match. So far this season, Jack won his maiden title in Stuttgart, and finished as a runner-up in Adelaide at the beginning of the season. Draper is currently the best ranked British player, so the fans hope that he can make it far here in New York. Last year at the US Open, Draper reached the 1/8-Finals, when he lost against Rublev in four tight sets.

Alex de Minaur has won four of his last five matches. So far in New York, Alex has lost only three sets. In the first round of the tournament, de Minaur defeated Giron in four tight sets. This was also his toughest match so far in the tournament. Alex had a favorable second round draw. He defeated Virtanen in straight sets. De Minaur struggled in the first and third sets against Otto, but still managed to close out the match in straight sets. In the third round, De Minaur had a rough first and second set against Evans. However, Dan looked tired on the court after he won the second set. Alex won 12 straight games, and won the match in four sets in the end. Yesterday, in the 1/8-Finals, de Minaur defeated Thompson in four sets, after spending three hours on the court. De Minaur won the first set 6-0, and looked unstoppable. However, in the second set, Alex lost his focus on his service game, and lost the set 3-6. In the third and fourth sets, de Minaur won the most important points, and closed out the match. Last year in New York, de Minaur reached the 1/8-Finals, when he lost against Medvedev in four sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. De Minaur has won all three head-to-head meetings so far. However, Jack is currently playing his best season, and his best Grand Slam tournament. We believe that he will finally find the way to beat Alex. Jack is yet to lose a set here in New York, and is playing extremely well at the US Open.

That being said, Draper winning is a value bet.
