Nuno Borges has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Winston-Salem, Borges lost his first round match against Seyboth Wild in straight sets. Here in New York, Nuno dominated against Coria from the very start, and won in straight sets. Borges lost his serve twice, but both times broke back right away. After that, in the second round, Borges defeated Kokkinakis in straight sets as well. Nuno is looking for a solid result here to get in his top 30 spots. Last year at the US Open, Borges lost in the first round against Ofner in four tight sets.
Jakub Mensik has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Cincinnati, Mensik failed to qualify for the main-draw tournament. A week before that, Jakub failed to qualify in Montreal as well. That being said, Mensik failed to qualify in both preparation tournaments for the US Open. Here in New York, Jakub won his first round match against Auger-Aliassime in straight sets. After that, in the second round, Mensik was 0-2 down against Schoolkate, but managed to turn the match around and win in five tough sets. Mensik even saved two match points in the fourth set. Last year at the US Open, Jakub reached the third round where he lost against Fritz in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. Jakub had a rough second round match where he spent almost five hours on the court. On the other hand, Borges looked great in his last match against Kokkinakis. We believe that he will be well rested, and dominate against Jakub from the very start.
That being said, Borges winning is a value bet.

Cobolli – Medvedev: 31.08.2024 Time TBA

Flavio Cobolli has won four of his last five matches. Here in New York, Flavio won his opening match against Duckworth in four tough sets. Besides losing the second set, Cobolli was the better player throughout the whole match. In the second round, Cobolli won against Bergs in four tight sets. Cobolli was great under pressure, winning almost all the important points of the match.
Daniil Medvedev has lost three of his last five matches. Medvedev won his opening match against Lajovic in four sets. After that, in the second round, Medvedev won against Marozsan in straight sets as we predicted. Daniil loves to play in New York. He won his only Grand Slam title here in 2021. He was also runner-up twice, once in 2019, and the second time last year, when he lost against Novak Djokovic.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Medvedev is the favorite in this matchup. Daniil is a way better and more experienced hard court player than Cobolli. We believe that he will continue in this fashion, and win easily again. Cobolli is still not at the highest level, so we believe that he will have no chance against Daniil.
That being said, Medvedev winning in straight sets is a value bet.
