The Real Champion Of The US Open Is A Drink

Arthur Ashe Stadium

The US Open cares a lot about the guest experience, and there are many interesting things to do upon visit. Watching a match at the phenomenal show courts, especially at Arthur Ashe Stadium–which is the largest dedicated tennis stadium in the world–the food is amazing, hanging out at lunch by the beautiful fountains and the fan week is also an amazing experience, where you can see the players practice up close. But if you haven’t tried a Honey Deuce, you are missing out.

Honey Deuce is the official drink of the US Open and is fruity and delicious. Every year since 2006, its popularity has grown exponentially. At the 2023 US Open, 450,000 cups of Honey Deuce were sold, which generated close to $10 million. The price of a single cup was $22. The drink’s sales alone were significantly more than the prize money paid to men’s and women’s champions last year.

Honey Deuce consists of Grey Goose vodka, lemonade, raspberry liqueur, and frozen melon balls that look like mini tennis balls. The price of Honey Deuce has increased to $23 this year. Its price has increased 64% since 2012 when it was available for $14. The price is a little high but at least you get the commemorative cup as a souvenir, which is pretty nice.

For comparison, the famous Pimm’s Cup cocktail of Wimbledon, which is a gin-based liqueur, had approximate sales of 270,000 units and one cup of that is almost half the price of Honey Deuce. The Kentucky Derby’s mint julep is another famous drink. 120,000 cups of mint julep are sold every year at the Kentucky Derby. The bourbon-based drink’s cost per cup in 2024 was $22 due to the 150th anniversary. It was a significant increase from 2023.
