Alex Michelsen had a short turnaround from Cincinnati but dealt with it quite well as he beat Marton Fucsovics to advance to the third round. There wasn’t much to separate the two players, but Michelsen played better in crucial points. Michelsen lost his third-round match at the Winston-Salem Open last year, so he will look to cross the hurdle this time. Zizou Bergs made a heroic comeback against Tomas Martin Etcheverry. He was down a set and a break but clawed his way back to win. It was one of the biggest wins of his career. This match can go either way, but I will stick with the in-form American.

Pablo Carreno Busta vs Aleksandar Vukic
Head-to-Head: First meeting
Pablo Carreno Busta steamrolled Alexander Shevchenko and is getting better with every match. When he is on, he can play at an extremely high level, and being a former champion here, he knows how to adjust to the conditions. After many challenging months with injuries, Carreno Busta looks set to reach his first quarterfinals since 2022. Vukic will be his most formidable opponent so far this week, as the Australian has a big serve and is in pretty good form this year. However, if Carreno Busta brings a good level, he should win.

Christopher Eubanks vs Roman Safiullin
Head-to-Head: First meeting
Christopher Eubanks played one of his best matches in a long time in the second round against Hugo Gaston. Eubanks hit 26 winners and just five unforced errors in the match. He needed just a week like this to get his form back on track. Roman Safiullin is also finding his best form after a long time. Winning a Challenger title last week and now defeating a tough opponent like Corentin Moutet in straight sets here. This promises to be an exciting contest with two opposite play styles. Eubanks has the better serve, but Safiullin’s solid and more attacking baseline play gives him the overall edge.
