ATP Winston-Salem Day 3 Predictions Including Christopher Eubanks vs Hugo Gaston

Christopher Eubanks National Bank Open

14 second-round matches are played on Day 3 at the ATP Winston-Salem Open and almost every match is tough to call. The wild card, Christopher Eubanks got off to a good start but can he win against a tricky opponent? As always, we here at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate.

ATP Winston-Salem Day 3 Predictions

Lorenzo Sonego vs Dominic Stricker

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Lorenzo Sonego cannot catch a break as he suffered another tough loss against Jaume Munar at the Cincinnati Open qualifiers. This is Sonego’s worst year in terms of win percentage since 2016 when he played just one match. Dominic Stricker dominated his first-round match and faced just a single break point. Stricker hit 10 aces and looked in good rhythm. Sonego will like these fast conditions and if he can get any momentum he will be hard to stop for Stricker. This match may go anyway, but I’m siding with the more experienced player.
Prediction: Sonego in 3

Pablo Carreno Busta vs Alexander Shevchenko

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Pablo Carreno Busta dropped just two games in a dominant first-round performance. He might be the lowest-ranked player this week, but he is getting better with every match and it wouldn’t be surprising if he lifts the Winston-Salem  Open trophy by the end of this week. Alexander Shevchenko has lost eight of his last 10 matches in all competitions. After a good start to the season, he has completely disappeared. At his best, Shevchenko would be a handful for the Spaniard, but not in this form.
Prediction: Carreno Busta in 2

Christopher Eubanks vs Hugo Gaston

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Christopher Eubanks should be pleased with his first-round performance, especially in the last two sets. He hit 42 winners in the match and served at a high level. That was the kind of serving, which got Eubanks to places last year. Hugo Gaston lost in the first round of qualifying in Cincinnati and looked abysmal behind his serve. Gaston only hit 45% of his first serves, and if he wants to win this match, he must significantly improve in this department. Eubanks has the edge on this one.
Prediction: Eubanks in 3
