Which Players Have Withdrawn?

Novak Djokovic was one of the high-profile players to withdraw from the National Bank Open. His decision is unsurprising since he has not played at the tournament since 2018. The 24-time Grand Slam champion is also preparing for Sunday’s men’s singles final at the Olympics, making his withdrawal even less of a shock.

Carlos Alcaraz was the other high-profile player to withdraw from the National Bank Open. The 21-year-old reason for not playing in Montreal is the same as Djokovic’s. The four-time major winner defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime to make the final of the men’s singles at the Paris Olympics and set up a blockbuster showdown against Djokovic.

Lorenzo Musetti also withdrew from the tournament. The Italian faced Djokovic in the semifinal of the men’s singles at the Olympics on Friday. He also reached the Umag Open final before the games began. Therefore, the 22-year-old deserves a rest as much as any player on the ATP Tour.

Jiri Lehecka was another player to withdraw from the event in Canada. He has not competed since sustaining a stress fracture during his Madrid Open semifinal against Felix Auger Aliassime. It is currently unknown when the Czech will return to the court.
