Felix Auger-Aliassime has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Gstaad, Auger lost in the quarterfinals against Berrettini in straight sets. Here in Paris, Felix is yet to lose a set. He did not offer any breakpoints yet again, and served great in the tiebreak. Today, in the quarterfinals, Felix defeated Ruud in three tight sets. Once again, Auger was the underdog, but showed great nerves in crucial moments. Felix lost his serve only once, which was in the second set. Other than that, Auger served brilliantly once again. So far this season, Felix has not have any big results on clay. His biggest result was reaching the final in Madrid, where he lost against Rublev in three tight sets.
Carlos Alcaraz has won eleven straight matches. Just two weeks ago, Carlos lifted his second Wimbledon title, winning against Djokovic in the final as we predicted. Alcaraz played outstanding tennis throughout the whole tournament. Here in Paris, Carlos won his first round match against Habib in straight sets. It was an easy match for Carlos. Habib is a challenger player who could not offer much against Carlos. After that, in the second round, Carlos defeated Griekspoor in straight sets once again. Alcaraz was great under pressure, saving both breakpoints he offered in the match. In the 1/8-Finals, Safiullin put up the fight in the first set. However, Carlos won once again in straight sets. Alcaraz lost his serve once at the beginning of the first set. Other than that, Carlos had a solid serving performance. Today, in the quarterfinals, Carlos won against Tommy Paul in straight tight sets as we predicted. Tommy was all over the court, but Carlos was prepared. Only one game decided the first set. In the second set, both players showed great tennis. Tommy was serving for the set at 5-3, but lost his nerves. In the end, Alcaraz saved one set point in the tiebreak, and won the match in straight sets. Here at the Olympic Games, Alcaraz is the biggest favorite to lift the title in the end.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Alcaraz is the big favorite in this matchup. Even though Auger has shown great tennis this week, we still believe that Alcaraz will get past him easily. Carlos always delivers his best tennis on the biggest stage. On the other hand, Auger has a history of losing big matches.
That being said, Alcaraz winning in straight sets is a value bet.
