ATP Olympic Games Best Bets Including Zverev vs Popyrin

ATP Hamburg finalist Alexander Zverev in action.

ATP Olympic Games 1/8-Finals

Musetti – Fritz: 31.07.2024 13:00 CEST
H2H: 2-2

Lorenzo Musetti has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Umag, Musetti reached the final where he lost against Cerundolo in three tight sets as we predicted. Here in Paris, Lorenzo won his first round match just a day after his final match in Umag. Musetti defeated Monfils in straight sets, and looked fit on the court. Today, in the second round, Lorenzo won against Navone in straight sets yet again. Musetti lost his serve twice in the first set when he was 4-0 up. Other than that, Lorenzo was a better player throughout the whole match.

Taylor Fritz has won four of his last five matches. Before the Olympic Games, Fritz played at Wimbledon in the quarterfinals, where he was upset by Musetti in five sets. Here in Paris, Taylor won his first round match against Bublik in straight sets. Fritz offered two breakpoints at the beginning of the second set, but saved both of them. Besides that, Taylor was unplayable. He had 30 winners with only 5 unforced errors. After that, in the second round, Fritz defeated Draper in three sets after he was one set down. So far this season, the American has not have any remarkable results on clay. His biggest clay court result was in Madrid, where he reached the semifinals.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. Musetti is currently a better clay court player, and we believe that he will have momentum coming into this match. Lorenzo performed great last week, and had two solid wins so far in Paris.

That being said, Musetti winning is a value bet.

Zverev – Popyrin: 31.07.2024 16:30 CEST
H2H: 2-0

Alexander Zverev has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Hamburg, Alexander reached the final where he lost against Arthur Fils in three tight sets. It was a great tournament preparation for Sascha. Here in Paris, Zverev won his first round match against Munar in easy straight sets. Zverev scored and saved only one breakpoint. In the second round, Zverev looked solid, winning against Machac in straight sets as we predicted. Alexander has already one gold medal at the Olympics. It was in 2021 at the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 where he won against Khachanov in the final.

Alexei Popyrin has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Umag, Popyrin lost his first round match against Mensik in straight sets. Here in Paris, Popyrin won his first round match against Jarry in straight sets. In the second round of the tournament, Alexei won against Wawrinka in straight sets as we predicted. So far this season, Popyrin has played 11 clay court matches, with a losing 4-7 record.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Zverev is the big favorite in this matchup. Popyrin did not offer a single breakpoint in his second round match against Wawrinka. He served well throughout the whole match. We believe that he will win a lot of free points on his serve and keep this match tight.

That being said, Popyrin covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Alexei Popyrin +4.5 games handicap @1.95 @bet365
