Yannick Hanfmann vs Damir Dzumhur
Head-to-head: Hanfmann 1-1 Dzumhur
Dzumhur is not far off from rejoining the Top 100. He’s been chipping at his ranking playing Challenger tennis almost all season and getting his reward. The diminutive Bosnian has bagged three titles at that level in the first half of the season, all on clay. Hanfmann will enter this match as the higher-ranked payer but has fared dismally recently. He is 14-23 at all levels this season. The German has played his best tennis in Gstaad before, reaching a maiden ATP final in 2017. But on current form, Dzumhur will have a great day at the office, outplaying him in rallies and feeding off on his return games.

Dominik Stricker vs Botic van de Zandschulp
Head-to-head: Stricker 1-1 van de Zandschulp
Stricker returned to action at the start of June after spending the first five months of the season nursing a severe back injury. He picked up his first win at the Ilkey Challenger but has lost his last two matches, including the first round of Wimbledon to Arthur Fils. Van de Zandchulp has accumulated a lot of game time on clay after Wimbledon. He was a runner-up at the Braunschweig Challenger this past week. Maybe this matchup has come sooner for the returning Srticker after a lengthy layoff.
Prediction: Van de Zandschulp in 3
Matteo Berrettini vs Pedro Cachin
Head-to-head: first meeting
Berrettini has played in only seven tournaments this season but has performed splendidly. He’s reached the final on three occasions, winning his lone title of the year so far in Marrakech. After an injury curtailed the start of his campaign, Berrettini has steered his season back on track. And he’ll be a real threat this week.
Gstaad is played at altitude, and it’s not by accident that the Italian has thrived in these conditions in the past, winning the title on debut in 2018 and finishing as runner-up in 2022. His booming serve and powerful shots travel faster because of the lower air resistance. Cachin will be on the back foot for most of this match, and the Argentinian’s form has been uninspiring for most of this season.
