WTA Wimbledon semifinals
Krejcikova – Rybakina: 11.07.2024 16:00 CEST
H2H: 2-0
Barbora Krejčíková has won five straight matches. Three weeks ago in Eastbourne, Krejcikova lost in the first round against Fernandez. Here at Wimbledon, Barbora won her first round match against Kudermetova in three tight sets. In the second round, Krejcikova defeated Volynets in two tiebreaks. After that, in the third round, Bouzas Maneiro retired mid-match against Krejcikova. Barbora spent a lot of time in her first two matches here in London, so it is important that she was over within an hour in her third round match. Her fourth round match against Collins was one of her best matches of this season. Krejcikova won that match in straight sets. Barbora lost her serve only once, and it was when she was 5-2 up in the second set, serving for the set. However, she stayed calm and broke back immediately to win the match in straight sets. In her quarterfinal match against Ostapenko, Barbora won yet again in straight sets as the underdog. In the first set, Barbora had an almost perfect serving performance, not offering any breakpoints. The second set was a rollercoaster, but she remained calm and got the job done in straight sets. Last year at Wimbledon, Krejcikova lost in the second round against Andreeva.
Elena Rybakina has won five straight matches. Three weeks ago, Rybakina reached the quarterfinals in Berlin where she retired mid-match against Azarenka. Here at Wimbledon, Elena won her first round match against Ruse in easy straight sets. After that, Rybakina won against Siegemund in three tight sets, which was overall a low-quality match. In her third round match, Elena absolutely dominated against Wozniacki, losing only one game in the match. In the 1/8-Finals, Kalinskaya unfortunately retired mid-match against Rybakina. Elena was 6-3, 3-0 up, when Kalinskaya decided to retire. Svitolina also did not have an answer for Rybakina´s game in the quarterfinals. Elena lost her serve at the beginning of the match, but since then, she played a great match, not offering any breakpoints. This will be her second semifinal here at Wimbledon. Two years ago, Rybakina lifted the title here at Wimbledon, winning against Jabeur in the final. With Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff being out of the tournament, Rybakina is currently the biggest favorite to lift the trophy here in London. So far this season, Elena has played six semifinals already this year, with a winning 5-1 record. She has also won three titles already this season. Last year at Wimbledon, Rybakina lost against Jabeur in the quarterfinal.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Krejcikova is the big underdog in this matchup. Elena is a great grass court player, and she has already lifted the title here in London. Krejcikova has also already won the singles Grand Slam title, but it was at the French Open, which is a way slower surface than here at Wimbledon. We believe that Rybakina is a better grass court player, and that she will win easily against Krejcikova.
That being said, Rybakina covering the games handicap is a value bet.
