ATP Wimbledon 1/64-Finals
Duckworth – De Minaur: 02.07.2024 12:00 CEST
H2H: 0-1
James Duckworth has won three of his last five matches. Duckworth entered the main-draw as a lucky loser. In the qualifying tournament, Duckworth won his first match against Hassan in three sets. After that, Duckworth won against Moreno de Alboran in two tight sets as we predicted. In the final qualifying round, Lajal upset Duckworth in straight sets. So far this season, Duckworth has won ten out of the fourteen matches on grass. Last year at Wimbledon, James lost in the second qualifying round against Mayot.
Alex de Minaur has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in London, de Minaur lost in the first round against Lorenzo Musetti. Just a week before that, Alex lifted the trophy in Hertogenbosch where he won against Sebastian Korda in the final. This is of his best seasons. So far this season, de Minaur has won three titles already, getting him into the top 10 in the rankings. The Australian usually plays great tennis on grass. However, he is yet to show his best tennis at Wimbledon. Last year at Wimbledon, de Minaur lost in the second round against Matteo Berrettini.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, de Minaur is the huge favorite in this matchup. Looking at his previous Wimbledon results, Alex usually struggles here in London. Duckworth is a solid grass court player, and we believe that he will keep this match tight.
That being said, Duckworth covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: James Duckworth +7.5 games handicap @1.91 @bet365
Daniel – Tsitsipas: 02.07.2024 13:30 CEST
H2H: 0-1
Taro Daniel has lost three of his last five matches. Last week, Daniel was absolutely demolished by Roberto Bautista-Agut, losing 1-6 0-6. So far this season, Taro has played only four matches on grass, with an even 2-2 record. Daniel is yet to win a main draw match at Wimbledon. Last year at Wimbledon, Taro lost in the final qualifying round against Coppejans in five tough sets. However, he got into the main draw as a lucky loser. In the first main draw round, Daniel lost against Ben Shelton in five sets as well.
Stefanos Tsitsipas has won three of his last five matches. The grass court surface is his least favorite one. Stefanos needs a lot of preparation time for his backhand, so he finds it hard on the faster courts such as this one. Ten days ago, Stefanos lost in Halle against Struff in straight sets as we predicted. This was also his only preparation tournament for Wimbledon. After that, Stefanos played two exhibition matches against Korda and Lajovic. Last year at Wimbledon, Tsitsipas lost against Eubanks in the 1/8-Finals in five sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Stefanos is the big favorite in this matchup. Even though he usually underperforms on grass, Tsitsipas is still a way better grass court player than Daniel. We believe that his serve and forehand will be too much for Daniel.
That being said, Tsitsipas winning in straight sets is a value bet.
