ATP Wimbledon Best Bets Including Duckworth vs Moreno De Alboran

James Duckworth, who won his 13th Challenger title last week, in action.

ATP Wimbledon qualifications

Duckworth – Moreno De Alboran: 26.06.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting

James Duckworth has won four of the last five matches. Last week in Halle, Duckworth reached the 1/8-Finals where he lost against Hubert Hurkacz in two tight sets as we predicted. Just a week before that, Duckworth reached the quarterfinals in Stuttgart where he was defeated by Berrettini in two tight sets. Here at Wimbledon, Duckworth won his first qualifying match after he was set down against Hassan. Last year at Wimbledon, James was stopped in the second qualifying round where he lost against Mayot in straight sets.

Nicolas Moreno De Alboran has lost four straight matches. Three weeks ago, Moreno De Alboran played a qualifying tournament in Hertogenbosch where he lost in the first qualifying round against Brouwer in three sets. This was also his first grass court tournament of the season. Before that, Moreno played a challenger tournament in Zagreb where he lost in the first round against Pacheco Mendez. Yesterday, Moreno won his first qualifying match against Paire in two easy sets as we predicted. Moreno is a very solid clay court player, but he never had any success on grass.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Moreno is the underdog in this matchup. Looking at his first round performance, Alboran performed well against Paire. Duckworth is a very solid grass court player, but we believe that Moreno will keep this match tight.

That being said, Moreno covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Moreno De Alboran +3.5 games handicap @1.73 @bet365

Shimabukuro – De Jong: 26.06.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 1-0

Sho Shimabukuro has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago, Sho played at the challenger tournament in Nottingham where he lost against Norrie in three tough sets. Yesterday, Shimabukuro won his first qualifying match against Kovalik in straight sets. Shimabukuro was not confident in his serve, offering many breakpoints. Last year at Wimbledon, Shimabukuro successfully qualified and lost in the first round against Dimitrov.

Jesper De Jong has won 6 straight matches. Last week, De Jong played at the challenger tournament in Sassuolo. Jesper looked great, and lifted the trophy, winning against Altmaier in the final. This was his first grass court tournament of the season. In the first qualifying round, De Jong defeated Kudla in straight sets as we predicted. De Jong adapted quickly to the surface, and overall played a great match. He lost his serve only once in the first set, but managed to come back and win comfortably in straight sets. Last year at Wimbledon, De Jong lost in the second qualifying round against Kovacevic in straight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. De Jong is playing his best tennis at the moment, and we believe that he will qualify eventually. We are yet to see how good he is on the grass court, but the first impression is great.

That being said, De Jong winning is a value bet.
