ATP 500 Halle final
Sinner – Hurkacz: 23.06.2024 14:00 CEST
H2H: 2-2
Jannik Sinner has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago, the new number 1 lost against Alcaraz at the French Open in the semifinals. Once he gets the momentum going, the grass court part of the season will be his favorite one. Here in Halle, Sinner was set down in the first round against Griekspoor. However, once he felt comfortable on grass, Sinner turned the match around easily. In the second round, Sinner struggled against Marozsan, winning in three sets. Jannik was calm in the third set, and managed to win every big point. In the quarterfinals, Sinner defeated Struff in three tough sets. Struff showed how good he is on grass courts. Jannik even had to save one breakpoint in the deciding set. Today, in the semifinals, Zhang played a great match, but fell short in two sets. Sinner defeated him in two tight sets as we predicted. Jannik only offered one breakpoint and saved it as well. Last year in Halle, Sinner retired mid-match in his quarterfinal match against Bublik. After that, Sinner lost in the semifinals against Djokovic at Wimbledon. This is a big match for Sinner, as he has never won the title on grass. Grass surface remains the only surface where the number 1 has yet to win the title.
Hubert Hurkacz has won four of his last five matches. This was his first grass court tournament of the season. Hurkacz is one of the best grass court players at the moment. Two weeks ago, Hubert reached the 1/8-Finals at the French Open where he lost against Dimitrov in three tight sets. Here in Halle, Hurkacz won his first round match in straight sets against Flavio Cobolli. In the second round, Hurkacz won against Duckworth in two tight sets as we predicted. In the quarterfinals, Hurkacz won in a tight match against Giron as we predicted. Hubert looked great so far this week. Today, in the semifinals, Hurkacz defeated Zverev in straight sets as we predicted. Hubert is yet to lose a set in Halle. Last year in Halle, Hubert lost against Griekspoor in the second round. After that, Hurkacz had a solid performance at Wimbledon where he reached the 1/8-Finals, losing against Djokovic in four sets. Hubert has won 8 of his last 10 tour level championship matches.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Hurkacz is a big underdog in this matchup. Looking at his current form, we believe that Hubert will have a decent chance against Sinner in the final. Jannik has lost three sets already in the tournament. As we previously mentioned, he is yet to win a title on grass, so there might be some extra pressure on him. Looking at their head-to-head meetings, we can see that Hurkacz knows how to play against Sinner. Hubert won both matches against Sinner on fast surfaces, such as this one.
That being said, Hurkacz covering the games handicap is a value bet.
