Whilst we await our final semifinalist once we know the result between Ugo Humbert and Gijs Brouwer, which the winner will take on top seed Alex De Minaur, we do know the bottom half semifinal at the ATP 250 in Den Bosch–which features Sebastian Korda looking to turn around a poor year for his high standards and Tallon Griekspoor, who’s only been going strength-to-strength the past 18 months. Once the other semifinal is set this piece will be updated to show our prediction for that match.
ATP Hertogenbosch Semifinal predictions
Tallon Griekspoor vs Sebastian Korda
Head-to-head: Korda 1-0
It must be said, it’s been some mental recovery for the Dutchman to make the semis this week after blowing a double break and 4-1 lead in the fifth against eventual finalist Alexander Zverev just last week. Perhaps made even more impressive with two final set tiebreaks won on his way to the last four, definitely clutch after losing one just last week. Whilst the 27-year-old has the groundstrokes and net game to be effective on the grass, there’s a huge issue which stops him being great on the surface: the serve.
When you look at the American, the game has always been huge, and the game has always had potential but injuries as well as a weak mentality at times has held him back. This week, however, the 23-year-old has been putting it all together, comfortably making the semifinals including routing his higher-ranked compatriot Tommy Paul 6-4 6-2. Korda’s serve is effective on this surface as are his groundstrokes and overall game. If he performs like we’ve seen so far this week he should make the final without dropping a set.
Prediction: Korda in 2
