ATP Madrid Day 6 Predictions including Jannik Sinner vs Pavel Kotov

Jannik Sinner in action ahead of the US Open.

ATP Madrid is well underway and approaching the second week. Day 6 has thrown up some exciting match ups that could have some unexpected results. Here we look at four matches on the card at ATP Madrid Day 6 including the top seed. We at LWOT also predict the rest of the day’s matches–including Rafael Nadal vs Pedro Cachin in a separate article.

ATP Madrid Day 6

Cameron Norrie vs Casper Ruud

Head to Head: 1-3

Cameron Norrie is the last Brit standing in the singles. The British #1 eased through his last match to set up another meeting with #5 seed Casper Ruud. Norrie made the quarter final in Barcelona so is proving quite comfortable on clay. Casper Ruud came into Madrid on the back of winning the title in Barcelona so will be very confident of the double. Norrie took the last meeting between these two, which was at the Australian Open. This will be the first meeting on clay.
Prediction: Ruud in 3

Jakub Mensik vs Felix Auger-Aliassime

Head to Head: First meeting

Jakub Mensik didn’t qualify for Miami, but ranking allowed the Czech to get into the main draw. Mensik has made the most of this opportunity so far with a stunning win last round against #9 seed Grigor Dimitrov. A battling three set match may though take it’s toll. Felix Auger Aliassime made the quarter final in Munich before entering here in Madrid. The Canadian stunned #19 seed Adrian Mannarino last round, losing only four games.
Prediction: Auger-Aliassime in 2

Flavio Cobolli vs Karen Khachanov

Head to Head: First meeting

Flavio Cobolli was unfortunate to encounter Rafael Nadal in the first round in Barcelona. The Italian only won five games against the Spaniard. In Madrid, Cobolli has needed three sets in both the previous rounds to get this far. However, the Italian did knock out #22 seed Nicolas Jarry last time out. Karen Khachanov is #16 seed here and needed three sets to progress in his first match in Madrid. On paper this should go the way of the seed, but surprises have happened before.
Prediction: Khachanov in 3

Jannik Sinner vs Pavel Kotov

Head to Head: First meeting

Jannik Sinner is the top seed here after Novak Djokovic withdrew. The Italian eased through his first match, dropping only three games. Pavel Kotov had a straight set victory in his first match, but needed to go the full distance against #32 Jordan Thompson. Kotov won’t beat Sinner here, Sinner will cement his place towards the top of the rankings and easily take out Kotov.
Prediction: Sinner in 2
