Miomir Kecmanovic is in terrible form. He is on a 4-game losing streak. The last match Kecmanovic won on the clay court was last year in July. He has played only one clay court match this season. It was last week in Estoril where he lost against Bautista Agut in straight sets. In that match, Kecmanovic made too many unforced errors. His ground strokes were not consistent at all. After losing 1-6 in the first set, Kecmanovic adapted to the surface and played better. However, it was not enough as he lost the second set 5-7.
Matteo Berrettini won his first title this season last week in Marrakech. He only played three tournaments this season, and he already got himself his first title! This was also his first clay court tournament of the season, and he showed us right away what kind of clay court specialist he is! Coming back from an injury, Berrettini looked fit on the court. He won against Carballes Baena 7-5 6-2 in the final!
All being said, we believe that Berrettini is currently in better form. He is also a better clay court player, and we believe that he will win easily tomorrow! Berrettini winning in straight sets is our value bet!

Monfils – Thompson: 09.04.2024 Time TBA

Gael Monfils has had a pretty decent season thus far. He has had some great wins already this season. Monfils has won 3 out of his last 5 matches. He lost his last match against Fucsovics in Estoril. The tournament in Estoril was also his first clay court tournament of the season. Monfils won there in the first round against Rocha in straight sets. After that, he lost against Fucsovics in three hard fought sets after he had 3 match points in the third set! We believe that he has enough time to rest for Monte Carlo and that he will be ready for his first round match!
Jordan Thompson is a typical hard court specialist! He rarely plays on the clay court. Last week, Thompson played in Houston on the clay court. We previously mentioned that this Houston clay court surface is almost as fast as a normal hard court surface. You can not compare American clay courts with European clay courts. He lost in the quarterfinal against Tiafoe in straight sets! Last time Thompson won a match on the European clay court was in 2021, in Barcelona against Gasquet! It will be interesting to see if he is going to adapt to the surface!
All being said, we believe that Monfils is a great clay court player. He should be able to win easily against Thompson. Monfils had 5 days’ rest and that was very important given his age! That being said, Monfils winning in straight sets is a value bet!
