Day 2 of the ATP 250 in Marrakech starts off with some interesting match ups. Of the four matches we are looking at in this article, only one seed is on the cards. Will there be any shocks and surprises in store, or will everything go to ranking order?
ATP Marrakech Day 2 Predictions
Aleksandar Vukic vs Alexandre Muller
Head to Head: First Meeting
Aleksandar Vukic is a regular on the main tour. In the events in March the Australian has only made the second round once. Indian Wells is where this happened. Vukic came across Novak Djokovic so the run ended there. However, in the Phoenix challenger event, Vukic made the semi final. Alexandre Muller has not fare much better. The Frenchman also made the second round in Indian Wells, before Grigor Dimitrov ended the run. At the Phoenix challenger Muller lost in the first round.
Prediction: Vukic in 3
Corentin Moutet vs Sumit Nagal
Head to Head: 2-1
Corentin Moutet is coming into this ATP event of the back of a challenger semi final. The Frenchman was the fifth seed in Naples and lost to Pierre-Hugues Herbert in a tight three set match. Sumit Nagal has been on the main tour lately and early exits or not qualifying for the event have left the Indian close in ranking to Moutet. This match is likely to be very close.
Predictions: Nagal in 3
David Goffin vs Arthur Rinderknech
Head to Head: First Meeting
David Goffin was the second seed in qualifying and has battled through to the main draw where this match up awaits. The last event that Goffin made the main draw in after qualifying was Indian Wells, where he was defeated in the first round by Andy Murray. Since then, the Belgian has not qualified for anything before Marrakech. Arthur Riderknech won a challenger early March, made the second round in Phoenix Challenger but didn’t qualify for Miami. The Frenchman is on a better run, but don’t discount Goffin.
Prediction: Goffin in 2
Alexander Shevchenko vs Matteo Berrettini
Head to Head: 1-0
Alexander Shevchenko is the sixth seed here. The Kazakh made the second round in both Indian Wells and Miami. Shevchenko last played the Italian in 2023 in the Phoenix Challenger, where Shevchenko took the match in three sets. Matteo Berrettini made the final of the same Challenger event this year and was runner up. In Miami Berrettini lost in the first round to Murray.
Predictions: Berrettini in 3
