ATP Queen’s Club Day 2 Predictions

Liam Broady vs Adrian Mannarino

Head-to-head: 3-1 Mannarino

While many Brits have to come to life during the grass court season, it’s been a tough start on grass for Liam Broady. However, he’s not far off from his career-high ranking of 116, and will have a much larger crowd support in this ATP 500 compared to his past challenger grass events. Mannarino is the kind of player that could fall victim to a peaking underdog, yet he’s been a giant killer himself by taking out Daniil Medvedev in the Netherlands. His peculiar form and anomalous shotmaking could force the already nervous Broady into many unforced errors, The Frenchman should have the edge here, but a peaking Broady could certainly win this.

Prediction: Mannarino in 3

Taylor Fritz vs Bernabe Zapata Miralles

Head-to-head: 1-0 Zapata Miralles

This is Zapata Miralles’ first match on grass this season, with the Spaniard’s game far more comfortable on the red dirt. As a top-50 player, he’ll have to learn how to adjust to grass courts sooner rather than later. Fritz disappointingly lost earlier than many would expect in Stuttgart, but this is a good first-round match to rebound. Fritz can’t afford to make as many unforced errors as he made last week, as Miralles hardly misses himself. Notably, Miralles shocked Fritz in the first round of the French Open last year, but this a completely new Fritz, and ultimately a completely disparate surface.

Prediction: Fritz in 2

Carlos Alcaraz vs Arthur Fils

Head-to-head: First meeting

This is an intriguing matchup that could be the budding of a thrilling rivalry. Of course, Fils will have to mature a lot and adjust to the way-of-life of top 50 players, but his early career success has indicated he’s a towering force on the ATP tour. Alcaraz is playing his first match since his Paris semifinal loss to Djokovic, so it’ll be interesting to see whether his form aligns with the stunning level fans witnessed from him at Roland Garros. The Spaniard could show signs of rust and may go down early in the first set, but he should have too much experience in this matchup.

Prediction: Alcaraz in 2
