Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage have been playing terrific tennis, pushing them to the brink of their first career WTA title. Boulter and Burrage set up the first all-British final on the WTA Tour since 1977. They will play for the Rothesay Open title in Nottingham, concluding a successful week of tennis for the Brits on home soil. We at LWOT have the preview and prediction for the Nottingham final. But who will hoist the trophy?
WTA Nottingham Final Prediction
Katie Boulter vs Jodie Burrage
Head-to-Head: Boulter 2-0 Burrage
Katie Boulter has been terrific this week, advancing from a wildcard spot all the way to her first WTA final. She has not dropped a set in four matches in Nottingham and has held a 17-3 record since the beginning of May. Jodie Burrage has been on a solid run of her own. The 24-year-old bested world no. 21 Magda Linette in Round 2. She holds an 11-3 record in her last 14 matches.
Boulter holds the 2-0 head-to-head over her younger countrywoman, including a 3-6 6-3 6-2 win earlier this year in Canberra. When looking at this matchup stylistically, look for Boulter to take control of the baseline rallies. She powered 28 winners in her semifinal victory and is comfortable on slick surfaces. That said, Burrage is a strong counter-puncher and should have no trouble handling the power of Boulter. I expect the Brits to put on a phenomenal final for their home fans. Ultimately, I see Boulter’s power paired with her recent consistency leading her to the finish line.
Prediction: Boulter in 3
