As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our prediction for the final, but who will come out on top?

Julie Grabher vs Lucia Bronzetti

Head-to-head: Grabher 1-1 Bronzetti

Grabher had to battle back from a set down against Belgium Ysaline Bonaventure in her first match in Rabat, but did so to win 6-7 6-4 6-2. She scored a more comprehensive victory in the second round, getting the better of Cagla Buyukackay in straight sets to reach the quarterfinals. There she beat former-French Open Martina Trevisan, albeit via retirement when the Italian withdrew after losing the first set. Grabher then beat surprise semifinalist Julia Riera 6-1 3-6 7-6 in a three-set thriller.

Bronzetti, meanwhile, kicked off her campaign at the WTA Rabat Open with a 6-4 7-6 win over Rebecca Peterson, with the Swede’s struggles continuing. Bronzetti then beat Wimbledon semifinalist Tatjana Maria in three sets to set up a quarterfinal-clash with the hard-hitting Alycia Parks. Parks has a bright future, but Bronzetti exposed her lack of clay-court experience to win 6-0 6-2. Her 6-1 6-1 victory over former-French Open finalist Sloane Stephens was rather more surprising and doubly as impressive.

This pair have split their two previous meetings, with Bronetti winning on home turf in Turin in 2019 and Grabher avenging that defeat two years later Bellinzona. But after the performances Bronzetti put in to beat Parks and Stephens it is hard to look past the Italian here. Grabher will likely put up more resistance than the American pair did, neither of whom played anything like their best tennis, but unless Bronzetti’s level drops the Italian should have enough to win her first tour-level title.

Prediction: Bronzetti in 3
