ATP Geneva Day 3 Predictions Including Marco Cecchinato vs Wu Yibing

It promises to be an entertaining third day at the ATP Geneva Open, a crucial warm-up event ahead of the French Open next week. There are six matches on the schedule on day six and, as always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the slate, including Alexander Zverev vs Christopher Eubanks. But who will advance?

ATP Geneva Day 3 Predictions

Stefano Travaglia vs Tallon Griekspoor

Head-to-head: Griekspoor 1-0 Travaglia

Tallon Griekspoor, the sixth seed at the ATP Geneva Open, has managed just one win in four clay court tournaments so far this Spring. Stefano Travaglia, meanwhile, has played most of his tennis at Challenger-level, but he has scored some good wins and looked sharp in coming trough the qualifying this week, beating fourth seed Abedellah Shelbayh for the loss of only two games and Viktor Durasovic 6-2 6-4. Travaglia is no pushover on clay, and Griekspoor typically prefers quicker surfaces. That said, the Dutchman’s quality should give him just about enough to reach the second round.

Nino Serdarusic vs Christopher O’Connell

Head-to-head: O’Connell 1-0 Serdarusic

Qualifier Nino Serdarusic comes into this match after playing 11 straight clay court tournaments. He has lost a lot of matches in that spell, but has found some form of late, reaching the second round as a qualifier in Oeiras last week and making his way through the qualifying once again this week. His opponent, Chrsitopher O’Connell has had a rather better time of things, however, and there is a gap of over 200 places between them in the rankings for a reason. This match might go all the way, but it would be a real surprise if the Australian did not emerge triumphant.

Marco Cecchinato vs Wu Yibing

Head-to-head: first meeting

Marco Cecchinato’s thrilling run to the semifinals at the French Open, which included a victory over Novak Djokovic in the last eight, was some time ago now, but the Italian has played some good tennis this Spring, including in Rome where he reached the third round. Wu Yibing, meanwhile, has found the adaptation to the clay challenging, but there have been some positive results for the Chinese in the last couple of weeks. But against a player as experienced as Cecchinato on the clay, it looks like being an uphill struggle for Wu.

Prediction: Cecchinato in 3
