ATP Miami Day 7 Predictions Including Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Karen Khachanov

Stefanos Tsitsipas at ATP Miami

After a rain-delayed night session, the third round at ATP Miami has been played out in full and we are down to the final 16 including some surprising faces such as Christopher Eubanks, Adrian Mannarino, or Quentin Halys. As always, we here at LWOT will preview and predict every match. Who will reach the quarterfinals?

ATP Miami Day 7 Predictions

Adrian Mannarino vs Christopher Eubanks

Head-to-head: first meeting

A brilliant opportunity to reach the quarterfinals of a Masters 1000 for either player. Mannarino has reached the final eight once before, beating Daniil Medvedev, Milos Raonic, and Hyeon Chung at the 2017 Rogers Cup. The 34-year-old fell in the fourth round in Miami twice before, but will fancy his chances a lot more this time. Eubanks had a 2-5 record in Masters 1000 main draws coming into Miami, was pushed to a third-set tiebreak by Lukas Klein in qualifying, but is finally getting his breakthrough moment. The 26-year-old walked around in disbelief after he saved four set points in the second-set tiebreak after the rain delay and sealed the win over Gregoire Barrere and has put himself in the position for a potential Top 100 debut. Eubanks will need another win to guarantee it, taking him up to No. 85, and it is far from impossible for the two-meter American. I expect a great battle with a lot of craftiness. Eubanks’ ability to rally with the Frenchman will be key.

Prediction: Eubanks in 3

Daniil Medvedev vs Quentin Halys

Head-to-head: Halys 1-0 Medvedev

These two 1996 guys never crossed paths on the Junior Tour, Halys reaching one singles and three doubles slam finals while Medvedev never advanced past the third round at a Junior slam or reached the Top 10. The Frenchman got the better of Medvedev in their only previous meeting at a Futures in 2015. The Russian has found a lot more success on the main tour while Halys is only now breaking through. I expect Medvedev, who is rested after receiving a walkover from Alex Molcan in the third round to take revenge here.

Prediction: Medvedev in 2

Francisco Cerundolo vs Lorenzo Sonego

Head-to-head: first meeting

Both players pulled off very strong straight-set upsets in the third round to get here. Cerundolo avenged his Indian Wells third-round loss with a 6-2 7-5 win over Felix Auger-Aliassime while Sonego overcame Frances Tiafoe despite the rain delay. This is a tight match where Cerundolo will make Sonego come up with some magic.

Prediction: Sonego in 3

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Karen Khachanov

Head-to-head: Tsitsipas 6-0 Khachanov

Rematch of the Australian Open semifinal that marked Tsitsipas’ sixth win over Khachanov. The Russian has won sets in three of their last four meetings since 2021 though while Tsitsipas is in questionable form. The World No. 3 lost to Jordan Thompson in his Indian Wells opener and dropped a set to Cristian Garin in his only Miami match so far. Khachanov, breaking through to the second week in Miami for the first time in his seventh appearance, stumbled in his opener against Tomas Martin Etcheverry but followed up with a 6-2 6-4 win over Jiri Lehecka. I believe this is Khachanov’s moment and a real test of where Tsitsipas’ level is at the moment.

Prediction: Khachanov in 3
