David Goffin and Rafael Nadal Tearing Up the Asian Swing

David Goffin has improved to 47-18 on the season after taking two titles in two weeks on the ATP Asian Swing. The 26 year old Belgian has scored notable wins over Alexandr Dolgopolov, Richard Gasquet, and the in-form Frenchman Adrian Mannarino over the span in which he took titles in Shenzhen and Tokyo. Goffin’s strong results this year and recently have moved him up to a career high ranking of #10 in the world. In the ATP race to London Goffin is up to #8.

The titles in Shenzhen and Tokyo were the Belgian’s first two of the season, which has unfortunately been shortened due to a brutal ankle injury at the French Open. The comeback has been slow and protracted, but Goffin has finally rounded himself back into elite form as he surges to qualify for the World Tour Finals in London.

Nadal sits in first in both the world rankings and the race to London; Rafa has not lost since taking the US Open title, as he beat John Isner, Grigor Dimitrov, and Nick Kyrgios in Beijing. He started his Beijing journey against Lucas Pouille, and saved two match points in a show of grit.

Nadal is looking like a solid number for next season, with his form having returned on hard courts, while Goffin could make a push for the top 5 early next season.
