The WTA Miami Open will begin to setup the quarterfinal matches, with Iga Swiatek looking to keep her winning streak against Coco Gauff. We have predictions for every day 7 match in Miami including Ons Jabeur vs Danielle Collins.
Jessica Pegula vs Anhelina Kalinina
Kalinina leads the h2h 2-1, Kalinina reached a career high ranking this season, her three wins in Miami came in three sets. The Ukrainian was excellent on the ITF circuit last season and is looking to cement herself as a WTA mainstay. Pegula, who also peaked at a career high ranking of #14 this year, has won both her matches in straights. Pegula should be fresher and that’s likely enough to survive and advance. Pegula in 2
Paula Badosa vs Linda Fruhvirtova
Fruhvirtova’s stunning run included Vika Azarenka walking off the court in the third round. Danka Kovinic and Elise Mertens were also defeated in rounds 1 and 2. The Czech has taken a leap from the ITF circuit to WTA and put together her best ever tournament thus far. Badosa was a semifinalist in Indian Wells and hasn’t dropped a set this week. Fruhvirtova has tons of talent, Badosa is the safer more reliable player at the moment and should stop the run of the teenager. Badosa in 3
Petra Kvitova vs Veronika Kudermetova
Kvitova beat Kudermetova twice last season, a quarterfinalist in Indian Wells, Kudermetova hasn’t dropped a set this week, Kvitova is the more accomplished player on paper but they are playing about even in terms of form right now. This should be a heavy battle, the h2h makes Kvitova the favorite. Kvitova in 3
Coco Gauff vs Iga Swiatek
Swiatek beat Gauff on clay in Rome last year, Swiatek is up to 13 straight wins and has barely broken a sweat this week. Gauff also hasn’t dropped a set this week and on hard courts should have a fighting chance, Swiatek is going to keep this train rolling and keep on winning until she doesn’t though and it’s hard to pick against her track record this season.
