Naomi Osaka vs Angelique Kerber
Kerber’s 4-1 h2h edge is meaningful here, the German just won her first two matches of the season at Indian Wells and is finding some form. Osaka eased past Astra Sharma in her first match since the difficult moments at Indian Wells. Osaka hasn’t been bad this season but I still think Kerber gets the best of her. Kerber in 2
Aliaksandra Sasnovich vs Daria Kasatkina
Kasatkina leads the h2h 5-3, both players are looking to do one win better than their showings in Indian Wells. This matchup looks quite competitive and even but I’ll go with Kasatkina as she’s higher ranked and has a better h2h, along with a solid 11-7 record on the season. Kasatkina in 3
Emma Raducanu vs Katerina Siniakova
At just 2-5 on the season, Raducanu has “returned to the mean” this season thus far, unable to build on the magic of last season. Siniakova just won her first two matches of the year at Indian Wells and Miami, she’s also a capable player but struggling, Raducanu can probably get herself over the finish line. Raducanu in 3
Alison Riske vs Alize Cornet
Riske is 6-0 in the h2h, and was solid against Jill Teichmann in round 1. Cornet reached the Australian Open quarterfinals and then promptly has faded away and seen her form turn to shambles. The French player is capable but Riske is clearly playing better. Riske in 2
