WTA Indian Wells Day 2 Predictions Including Elsa Jacquemot vs Dayana Yastremska

Dayana Yastremska 2020 Cincy

Round 1 action will continue at WTA Indian Wells on Thursday, with Dayana Yastremska and Alison Riske among the players in action. We have predictions for all of the scheduled matches on Thursday including Viktorija Golubic‘s, Kim Clijsters‘, and Amanda Anisimova‘s matches.

Martina Trevisan vs Marie Bouzkova

Trevisan leads the h2h 2-1, Bouzkova reached the quarterfinals in Luxembourg, and her 15 WTA wins this year are her best ever as a professional player. Trevisan is at a career high ranking, and is on an incredible run, with two wins in qualifying at Indian Wells, an ITF title, and a WTA final since the US Open. With Trevisan playing so well she should have the upper hand in this matchup. Trevisan in 3

Liang En-shuo vs Alison Riske

Riske had a final after the US Open (Portoroz), her first since 2019, the qualifier Liang has had flashes of success below the WTA level, but Riske looks to be a step ahead, I would expect Riske to get off to a strong start here. Riske in 2

Elsa Jacquemot vs Dayana Yastremska

Yastremska has struggled since reaching the semifinals in Hamburg in July, the former top 25 player is a ways off from that. Jacquemot is a talented French teenager with extremely limited WTA level experience. This is a winnable match for the French player, but Yastremska has to be the favorite starting out. Claire Liu vs Anna Kalinskaya

Liu won their only match, two months ago in Chicago, that win helped put her into the semifinals of that tournament, and also had a quarterfinal in Bastad. Liu has been excellent below the WTA tour level but hasn’t quite made the leap to that level. Kalinskaya came through qualifying in Chicago and Indian Wells, and also had a nice run at Wimbledon, qualifying for that Grand Slam. The Russian can be a threat, but Liu’s form is slightly better.
