ATP Cincinnati Day 3 Predictions
Hubert Hurkacz vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
This could be a matchup much later in the tournament in the future. Davidovich Fokina is not quite great yet on hard courts, but he has a unique game style and loves the clay. That’s trouble for him, as Hurkacz is a future star who loves the hard courts. The young Pole is coming off an amazing Wimbledon run, and he already has a Masters 1000 crown under his belt in Miami.
Prediction: Hurkacz in 3
Reilly Opelka vs Corentin Moutet
Opelka is coming off the best week of his career. The tall American just reached the final in Toronto, and the Cincinnati courts should suit his game just as well. He has a huge serve, but a decent baseline game to back it up as well. Moutet doesn’t have the game to beat Opelka. Perhaps he can win in tiebreaks if he can hold his serve, but he’s at a huge disadvantage here.
Prediction: Opelka in 2
Frances Tiafoe vs Ugo Humbert
Tiafoe is playing well, and he always likes the American hard courts. Humbert, meanwhile, is rapidly improving and likes these courts as well. Expect a fun, hard-hitting battle, but the Frenchman looks in better position right now.
Prediction: Humbert in 3
Matteo Berrettini vs Albert Ramos-Vinolas
Ramos did very well to come back to beat Taylor Fritz in the opening round. Winning this match will be much harder, though. Berrettini’s huge serve and baseline game works well on the fast American hard courts, and Ramos has nothing to counter it.
Prediction: Berrettini in 2
