This is their first meeting, Kalininia has come alive this season and will continue to improve upon her career high ranking after reaching this maiden WTA final, she hasn’t dropped a set this tournament after an incredible run prior at the ITF level, it’s nwo 14 wins in a row for Kalinina. Putintseva needed three sets in her last two matches, defeating Dalma Galfi and Kateryna Kozlova in competitive tilts. Putintseva is the better known player, with more experience at this level, but her record in WTA or ITF finals is an abysmal 1-8, she lost eight finals before winning her first. This matchup sets up nicely for a Kalininia upset.
