WTA Bad Homburg Day 3 Predictions Including Amanda Anisimova vs Andrea Petkovic

Amanda Anisimova

Day 3 of the WTA Bad Homburg is upon us and features a whole variety of players fans have come to know and love over the years, including Major champion Victoria Azarenka, in-form Jessica Pegula, and talented youngster Amanda Anisimova.

WTA Bad Homburg Day 3 Predictions

Victoria Azarenka vs Yuliya Hatouka

Head-to-head: 0-0

It’s not too often you get two Belarusians playing one another on the WTA Tour, but here we are with the world #14 taking on the qualifier. The 21-year-old has spent most of her year playing ITF events with the odd qualifying draw for WTA events scattered here and there. Azarenka, on the other hand, is coming off a good last four appearance last week in Berlin, something I’m sure she’ll build off here going into Wimbledon as someone who can potentially roll back the years.

Laura Siegemund vs Tamara Korpatsch

Head-to-head: Siegemund 1-0

Another match featuring a qualifier in Bad Homburg. Despite still be ranked inside the world’s top 60, the German Siegemund has not been anywhere near her best this year with just eight wins on the main tour. Korpatsch is much of the same story with struggles all year but a good round one win here against another top 60 player Peterson. Like many, I expect Siegemund to win this but I do think it will be closer than expected.

Jessica Pegula vs Katerina Siniakova

Head-to-head: Pegula 1-0

What a year it’s been for Pegula, four wins against top 10 player Pliskova as well as a new career high this week of #25. It’s somewhat hard to believe Siniakova is now 25 years old being such a promising youngster just a few years ago but her career has truly excelled in doubles with titles in Madrid and Roland Garros. This isn’t doubles, though, and Pegula is in the form of her life on all surfaces, I expect another big week here from the American who’s only going to keep getting better despite the rest of this season.

Amanda Anisimova vs Andrea Petkovic

Head-to-head: Anisimova 1-0

Just a few years ago Anisimova was making the semifinal of Roland Garros, beating defending champion Simona Halep and winning another WTA title at just 17 years old. Since then her career hasn’t reached anywhere near the heights we thought but she’s still only 19 years old with a huge game in her possession she just needs to tame. Before an easy round one win she was coming off three losses in a row and things will get a fair bit harder here but perhaps not too hard. It’s a shame Petkovic’s career has somewhat been ruined by injuries because there’s no doubt she’s one of the most loved players on tour with a game that deserves far more success than it got. Unfortunately for the 33 year old German a win here would mean two match wins in a row for the first time since 2019, against lesser players it could be possible but the 19 year old is definitely favourite here.
Prediction: Anisimova in 2
