We have reached the quarterfinal round of the ATP Lyon Open, and only two seeds remain standing. Still, there should be plenty of exciting tennis, including yet another tremendous clay run by Cameron Norrie. Will Stefanos Tsitsipas cruise to the title? Or can someone else stop the Greek?
ATP Lyon Open Quarterfinal Predictions
Cameron Norrie vs Arthur Rinderknech
Rinderknech had some strong Challenger Tour results last year, but hasn’t made huge strides since. This tournament has been a big stride. Winning another match would be huge for him, but it doesn’t look likely here. Norrie is in excellent form and constantly improving. The Brit will get to his second ATP semifinal in as many months.
Prediction: Norrie in 2
Richard Gasquet vs Karen Khachanov
Gasquet is in good form, picking up an impressive win over an out-of-sorts Diego Schwartzman in the second round. Khachanov, meanwhile, is playing well but searching for consistency right now. It’s unfortunate that it’s impossible to trust the Frenchman right now with his injury woes. I do think that Gasquet should win this match if he’s healthy enough to finish it, but that’s never a guarantee nowadays.
Prediction: Gasquet in 3
Aljaz Bedene vs Lorenzo Musetti
Bedene is in the midst of a great run, but Musetti has just been rapidly improving and making huge strides since his semifinal in Acapulco in February. The Italian looks on track to reach another semifinal, and reach a career high ranking in the process. Musetti doesn’t have elite consistency yet, but he’s more talented than Bedene and playing better.
Prediction: Musetti in 2
Yoshihito Nishioka vs Stefanos Tsitsipas
Nishioka did well in the second round, inflicting yet another heartbreaking loss on Gael Monfils in a third-set tiebreak. Still, his level is nowhere near what would be needed to challenge Tsitsipas on clay. The Greek wants another title in his preparation for the French Open, and Nishioka won’t be the one to stop him.
Prediction: Tsitsipas in 2
