Despite the early exit of Roger Federer, there looks set to be plenty of entertaining tennis over the coming days at the ATP Geneva Open. There are seven matches on the slate on day four and, as always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match, including Casper Ruud vs Tennys Sandgren. But who will book their place in the last eight?
ATP Geneva Open Day 4 Predictions
Feliciano Lopez vs Dominik Koepfer
Head-to-head: Lopez 1-0 Koepfer
Feliciano Lopez rolled back the years in the first round at the ATP Geneva Open to beat lucky loser Daniel Altmaier 7-6 6-4 and avenge the defeat inflicted on him by the German last year at the French Open. The 39-year-old’s next challenge will be to get the better of another German in the shape of Dominik Koepfer, who opened his campaign in Geneva with a battling 6-7 7-6 6-4 win over seventh seed Benoit Paire. This looks to have the makings of a close contest, but expect Koepfer’s solid baseline play to give him the edge against the veteran Spaniard.

Arthur Cazaux vs Pablo Cuevas
Head-to-head: first meeting
Arthur Cazaux took full advantage of the wildcard offered to him by the organisers at the ATP Geneva Open, upsetting his countryman Adrian Mannarino in the first round in three sets, with an excellent ‘tweener winner the pick of his shots. But this looks like being a tough test for the inexperienced Frenchman. Pablo Cuevas may not be the force he once was, but he has looked sharp so far in Switzerland, coming through the qualifying before upsetting Rome semifinalist Reilly Opelka 7-6 6-2. Expect this to prove a bridge too far for the talented Cazaux.

Fabio Fognini vs Laslo Djere
Head-to-head: first meeting
Consistency is unlikely to ever be a word associated with Fabio Fognini, but when the Italian wants to be he can be almost unplayable. He certainly proved far too strong for the out of form Guido Pella, thrashing the struggling Argentine for the loss of only four games. That was an impressive return to form for the Italian after the disappointment of his first-round exit in Rome. And, if he can maintain the level he displayed against Pella, he should have too much for Laslo Djere. The Serbian played well to beat Thiago Monteiro from a set down in the first round, but it is hard to see him living with Fognini from the baseline.

Marco Cecchinato vs Denis Shapovalov
Head-to-head: Cecchinato 1-0 Shapovalov
Denis Shapovalov showed what he can do on a clay court at the ATP Rome Masters in the third round against the great Rafael Nadal, coming to within a few points of pulling off a memorable upset-win at the Spaniard’s expense. The challenge now for the Canadian is to produce that sort of tennis on a more consistent basis. This looks like a good opportunity for him to do just that. Marco Cecchinato should not be underestimated – he beat Shapovalov handily in their only previous meeting – but Shapovalov has the more powerful groundstrokes and the better serve. If he remains focused, expect him to hit through Cecchinato and into the quarterfinals.
