WTA Monterrey Semifinal Predictions Including Leylah Fernandez vs Sara Sorribes Tormo

The players most in form heading into the 2021 WTA Monterrey tournament continued their ascent this week with Sara Sorribes Tormo and Viktorija Golubic both into the semifinals. Are they set to meet in the final or will Leylah Fernandez and Ann Li upset proceedings?

Leylah Fernandez vs Sara Sorribes Tormo

It’s three wins on the trot for Fernandez without dropping a set (d. Vandeweghe, Kucova, and Kuzmova) while Sorribes Tormo has a seven match winning streak dating back to last week. She’s won two matches (the first one in three sets vs Tsurenko), and got a walkover in round 2. Anna Karolina Schmiedlova put up some resistance but it was still Sorribes Tormo’s victory in straights. I expect Fernandez to also present resistance, but Sorribes Tormo is set to march onwards into the final. Sorribes Tormo in 3

Viktorija Golubic vs Ann Li

Ann Li is into a second semifinal for the 2021 season, while Golubic continues her incredible run of form, Golubic is on track to make it past her career high ranking of 51 if her level of form can continue. The qualifier is 24-4 in 2021 including 5 wins without dropping a set at this tournament alone. Li is a competitive player, but Golubic can’t be counted out in any match at this point. Golubic in 2
