ATP Santiago Quarterfinal Predictions Including Federico Delbonis vs Holger Rune

A pair of Argentine’s and Chile’s #1 player have shots at reaching the semifinals at ATP Santiago. Federico Delbonis, Facundo Bagnis, and Cristian Garin are all in action.

Facundo Bagnis vs Laslo Djere

It’s back to back quarterfinals on clay for Djere and Bagnis on clay, something has to give here in their first meeting. Bagnis form has looked slightly better, and the dirtballing Argentine is well positioned to reach his second ATP semifinal this season. Bagnis in 3

Federico Delbonis vs Holger Rune

The qualifier Holger Rune has dismissed his first two main draw opponents like a skilled veteran. Delbonis has been solid as well and is tough to beat on clay. Rune has tons of talent but it feels like he finally runs into resistance here, as Delbonis has a real shot at the title. Delbonis in 2

Cristian Garin vs Juan Pablo Varillas

It’s the third meeting between these players with split h2hs, Varillas is in fiery form, with 5 matches won in a row and just one of them needing three sets. Garin just won his first match of 2021 in the previous round. Garin is clearly the better more accomplished player, but Varillas has a h2h win. Fatigue should be a factor here, and I expect Garin to grind his way to a win on clay at home. Garin in 3

Roberto Carballes Baena vs Daniel Elahi Galan

Galan leads the h2h 2-1 as this is another match where the underdog player has a chance. Galan’s upset of Pablo Andujar in round 2 was impressive while RCB has eased past the early round competition. This match is tough to predict given the limited sample size, but RCB should be a slight favorite. Carballes Baena in 2
