The Adelaide International Semifinal Matches Are Set

The Adelaide International semifinals are set for the 2021 edition. The final four women will battle it for a chance to be in the final. As the top seeded player and defending champion, Ashleigh Barty, was eliminated by Danielle Collins, there will be a new champion this year. Here are the four players who have a chance to win their first title of the season.

Iga Świątek

The 19-year-old Polish star is playing some absolutely great tennis at the Adelaide International. The current French Open champion has yet to drop a set in this tournament. In the Round of 32 she defeated American Madison Brengle in straight sets. Next, she defeated Maddison Inglis to reach the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals, she defeated another American player in Danielle Collins. However, the difference in this match was that Collins retired due to an injury. Indeed, it looked like Świątek was heading to win the match regardless as she had a healthy lead, 6-2 3-0.

Next up for Swiatek is Jil Teichmann, who has defeated some big names in her semifinal journey. No doubt this match will be a great even contest. They have met once in a lower level event last year and Swiatek won that match. The teenager is the favorite to win this match, but as we all know anything can happen in tennis.

The 23-year-old Swiss player has defeated some big names along this tournament. First, she dispatched Kristina Mladenovic in straight sets in the Round of 32. Next, she defeated Wang Qiang in three tough sets.

In the quarterfinals she defeated Anastasija Sevastova in three great sets. This match was a roller coaster ride, but eventually she came out as the winner. She has proven that she can overcome tough situations and looks set to reach another final in her young career.

Her next opponent will definitely make her showcase her best form. No doubt Świątek is the favorite in this match, but Teichmann has proven she can defeat the big names.

The rising teenage superstar is playing some remarkable tennis thus far. She had to go through the qualifying stages of the tournament and has made it to the last four players. The 16-year-old American is playing fantastic, although she has lost a set in every match except for her first qualifying match.

Clearly she has room for improvement, but she is still in the developing stages of her very young and bright future. She has fought through in all of her matches that have gone the distance. No doubt she will push Bencic and cause another upset.

Belinda Bencic

The 23-year-old Swiss has only played twice in this tournament as she is the second seed and had a bye in the first round. She has yet to drop a set so far and is fresh coming into the semis. As the top remaining seeded player, she is the heavy favorite to win this tournament.

Her next opponent will be her toughest test as of yet as Gauff is playing well in this tournament. This will be her first time playing against the American teen sensation. Although, Bencic is the heavy favorite to win this match and to win the tournament.

Great Semifinal Matches

The Adelaide International semifinals will be some great matches. The remaining four players have proven that they have what it takes to win and will try to book a ticket to the final. Whoever wins these matches will provide us with a great final to conclude a great tournament.
