Alexander Zverev vs Diego Schwartzman
Alexander Zverev will take on Diego Schwartzman for the fourth time in his career and the first time on home soil when they meet in the ATP Cologne bett1HULKS Championships final. Zverev is taking part in the tournament for the second consecutive week, he’s won seven matches at this venue over the course of both weeks. He won last week’s Cologne title dropping just one set the entire tournament and though it’s been slightly more challenging this time around, he’s just a match away from consecutive titles and a perfect 8-0 record. Jannik Sinner was his most recent opposition and he prevailed in straight sets.
Standing in Zverev’s path is Diego Schwartzman, the talented Argentine battler scraped past Felix Auger Aliassime in three sets, preventing a repeat of last week’s Cologne final, and he leads the h2h 2-1 against Zverev including a win at the 2019 US Open, their last meeting. Schwartzman lacks a title in recent weeks, but he’s been on fire all the same, reaching the semifinals of the French Open, and prior to that the final in Rome on clay, after a slow start on US hard courts when the tour returned.
If this match was on clay, Schwartzman would be the favorite, but given the venue and Zverev’s current form he should have a slight edge in what looks like a thrilling final. Zverev in 2
