ATP Antwerp European Open Day 1 Predictions Including Tommy Paul vs Feliciano Lopez

The 2020 European Open in Antwerp, Belgium begins main draw play on Monday with three matches including Tommy Paul vs Feliciano Lopez. Here are your predictions for day 1 action on indoor hard courts.

Tommy Paul vs Feliciano Lopez

Feliciano Lopez has just one official match win all season, it’s been a severely abbreviated season, but all the same he’s clearly struggling at 39 years old to maintain anything resembling an ATP level of play, though he was fun to watch over the summer in the exhibition circuit. Tommy Paul has had some nice results on clay, and though the transition to hard courts doesn’t work in his favor, he’s still playing better than Lopez and should have an advantage as long as he can break the Spaniards serve, or a win a tiebreak. Dusan Lajovic vs Frances Tiafoe

Lajovic has a h2h win but this is a hard court match and Tiafoe just won a clay challenger. If he’s fit he has the matchup advantage here. Look for the American to look to put this match away quickly to keep his fatigue level at an absolute minimum. Tiafoe in 2

Kimmer Coppejans vs Ugo Humbert

Belgium’s own Coppejans hasn’t been at the ATP level for a little while now, he came up just short qualifying for the French Open in an otherwise quiet season so far. Humbert isn’t a world beater either but the matches he plays these days are a higher level of competition and his game should be enough to survive the home player in the opening round.
