The second day of main draw action in Sardinia sees players like Andreas Seppi get into the game. Here are all your predictions for the Sardegna Open.
Jozef Kovalik vs Pablo Andujar
Kovalik is playing well but he just lost Andujar in a clay court challenger and this is a tough matchup for him. Andujar should cotninue to show his ability to win matches like this on the clay, he’s built a career making solid runs at the 250 level on the surface and that should continue. Andujar in 2
Andreas Seppi vs Federico Delbonis
The aging Seppi has never beaten Delbonis on clay but playing at home he should give this match his best effort. Delbonis, comfortable on the clay in his own right, is coming off a challenger semifinal though and is playing better tennis at this point in their careers. He’s the favorite. Delbonis in 2
Roberto Carballes Baena vs Federico Coria
Carballes Baena leads the h2h 3-1 and all of their meetings have been on clay. Both players are fresh off of the third round of the French Open, though Carballes Baena had to retire in his third round match. Coria eased through qualifying before this match. This is a nip and tuck match on paper, but if RCB is fit past should be prologue and he’s favored to extend his h2h advantage. Carballes Baena in 2
Lorenzo Sonego vs Giulio Zeppieri
Sonego was great at the French Open and he’ll be the heavy favorite against his fellow Italian Zeppieri. The 18 year old is making his debut this year at the ATP level and it’s not going to be easy. There’s no doubt Zeppieri is improving, but Sonego should find his way in this one. Sonego in 2
Laslo Djere vs Sumit Nagal
These players have struggled lately but are showing signs of improvement in their most recent matches. The qualifier Nagal has a 1-1 h2h against the Serbian Djere, but Djere should be able to maintain a higher level of play, and especially on this surface is a slight favorite. Djere in 2
Gianluca Mager vs Marco Cecchinato
Cecchinato showed skill on clay recently and hasn’t lost his first match of any tournament since the US Open. Mager for his part has just one win since the tour restarted. This is another battle of home players and Cecchinato has the advantage. Cecchinato in 3
